Senior Call-in Program
The Accomack County Sheriff's Office has started the senior citizen program to assist the elderly or disabled persons in our county with daily checks to ensure that they are safe and sound. Every morning the members of the program call in to the Sheriff's Office. If there are any problems or someone doesn't call for what ever reason the Sheriff's Office will go and check on the person to ensure that they are alright. If there is some sort of emergency then the Sheriff's Office will be sure to notify all parties needed to assist and any persons noted on their application. You can sign up for this service by either calling the Accomack County Sheriff's Office or printing out THIS APPLICATION and turning it in to the Sheriff's Office.
House Check Program
The Accomack County Sheriff's Office has a house check program for people residing in Accomack County. The house check program was designed to let the residents of Accomack County feel more secure about leaving their homes for a short length of time without worrying about the security of their homes. The house check program will provide you with daily checks by deputies of your home while you are away for a few days on vacation or for business or whatever reason. The deputies will walk around the perimeter of your home to check for anything out of the ordinary. If anything does appear to be out of sorts then the deputy will either contact you or your designee.
If you will be out of town for a few days and you would like the Accomack County Sheriff's Office to check your home while you are away then contact the Accomack County Sheriff's Office. The dispatcher will inform you of what you need to do to take part in the program.
***THIS PROGRAM IS ONLY FOR RESIDENTS WHO ARE AWAY FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THIS IS NOT A DEDICATED SECURITY PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM WILL NOT REPLACE A GOOD IN HOME SECURITY SYSTEM.
Citizens Police Academy
The Citizen's Police Academy is a program offered by the Accomack County Sheriff's Office. The program is for non-law enforcement people to have a look into the world of a law enforcement officer. Many people don't understand what today's law enforcement is all about. This nine week program allows people like yourself a chance to experience some of the same things that a law enforcement officer goes through every day.
